(Excerpted from the WAI Content Guidelines) Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (U.S.)Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires access to electronic and information technology procured by Federal agencies. The Access Board developed accessibility standards for the various technologies covered by the law. These standards have been folded into the Federal government's procurement regulations, and must be met by all suppliers of goods and services to U.S. government organizations. Section 508 standards include 16 guidelines for the development of Web-based content to ensure it will be accessible to U.S. government employees and the U.S. public at large. |
